뚜껑덮힌건 둘 다 매운탕
음식 다 올리지도 않았는데 식탁이 비좁았어요.
우리 앞접시 놓을 자리도 없었어요.
그동안 미국에서 먹은 회는 뭔가 허전했는데
이집은 완벽했습니다.
식사를 무려 4시간동안 했어요ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
너무 맛있어서 계속계속 먹었어요.
회를 먹어도 먹어도 남아있더라고요.
4인분이라 적혀있지만
5-6인도 가능할거같아요.
참으로 훌륭한 집이었습니다.

엘에이는 저런 엄청난 횟집도 있고
한번도 한타가 좋다고 생각한 적 없었는데
이집음식먹고
엘에이에, 아니 한타에 살고싶었습니다.
다음에 집에 손님올 때 꼭 포장해와야겠어요.

The usual Tsukidashi I got at Korean Hwe Jip (Korean sashimi restaurants) can range from:
Typical Korean side dishes, sea squirt, fried fish, ray, octopus, uni, sushi, shrimps, shell fish, and don’t forget the gebul
For people visiting Masan Restaurant who said live octopus is the craziest thing they ate, they haven’t tried Gebul. At the times that I ate it, I was told it’s some kind of seafood that’s good for stamina for male. It seems like Korean people doesn’t have problem getting it up like here in the States but problem with keeping it up. It’s all about male stamina and everything from deer blood, deer horn, Ginseng, turtle, snake are all good for male “stamina.” For those who don’t know the raspberry wine, BokBunJa, is known to be drank by a monk who gained extreme power down below that he was able to destroy a toilet from mere peeing. Anyways gebul is known as Urechis unicinctus…it’s a freaken worm I found out recently. It is served alive and cut too I believe and it moves around your plate too. You have to check it out on youtube.
On top of all that Tsukidashi Korean style which mean it’s going to be 10 servings too much, you get variety of live sashimi with different types of fish, ending with MaeUnTang (literally spicy soup) made of just filleted fish’s bone and head you just enjoyed eating. Depending on the location you may get more or less and ranging from around $25 from local fish market to 100’s or dollars.
Just think of it as 13-15 course meal but not separated. They’ll bring side dish and Tsukidashi after Tsukidashi after Tsukidashi before you finish because if they did you’d be there entire day. Your table will be so packed that you won’t be able to see the table.
This is Korean hwe jip in Korea, unfortunately not in the States. Due to Korea being a penninsula, it’s surrounded by ocean and various types of fresh fishes are plenty.
Jeju Restaurant was pretty good but it wasn’t the Korean experience I was expecting. We ordered the 2 different combos which came with uni, halibut sashimi, side dishes, Japanese style sashimi, soba (noodle), Agu Jjim (spicy steamed monk fish dish), MaeUnTang (Spicy Fish Soup), broiled sardine, sea squirt, and on. It came out to be around 230 (including tax and tip) for 2 different combos feeding 7 adults and 2 kids
I originally was going to give it only 3 stars since it wasn’t the experience I was expecting, but thinking about it, everything was fresh and good. Walking in, I saw a delivery truck parked near the front delivering live octopus and live fish to the restaurant in the evening time which is a good sign that food is fresh (and they may have live octopus for those who are brave to try). I usually don’t like Uni, but Uni here was really tasty that i ordered a bowl or rice and ate 3 roes by myself. They separate the uni roes and place them side by side on a dish with some sauce. I
I’m not a huge fan or the Agu Jim or MaeUnTang so I tried only some. People always complain not enough fish in Agu Jim and too much bean sprout. That’s how the dish is traditionally served. Way back when with big families, one fish 10 mouths to feed. (Same with the crab soup from Ondal II – few crabs whole bunch of mouths to feed). Although my mom said there wasn’t enough minari (the greens referred to as japanese parseley or chinese celery.) to be traditional enough.
People look for service and I’ll comment that the entire place was packed with what seems like 60 or more customers but only had 3 waitress running around. So don’t be shy to call them with (Yugiyo – like the cartoon card game). They’ll do their best but with that many people, they are understaffed, will take time and may need reminder if you’ve been waiting too long.
So overall, if what you are looking for is halibut sashimi, uni I’d come back since the food was extremely fresh and tasty, but if you’re those few people who have tasted the motherland’s Korean live fish places in all it’s glory (meaning all the table busting sides aka Tsukidashi) then I can tell you that you will be disappointed.
